Here’s something that rasises some ethical issues on nature of blogging and social networking, as well as exactly how far is too far:
CBS reports that a picture posted of Miley Cyrus could land Celebrity Gossip Queen Perez Hilton in hot water. Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, posted a picture early Monday of Cyrus exiting a limo and exposing a very sensitive area (I think you can figure it out) with the caption “If you are easily offended, do NOT click here…Oh, Miley! Warning: truly not for the easily offended!”
Since Cyrus is seventeen, Hilton could face child pornography charges. However, according to TVGuide, Hilton denies that nothing was truly visible from the shot, stating “Do you think I’m stupid enough to post a photo of Miley if she’s not wearing any underwear down there? No! Sure I like to seem controversial, but I don’t want to go to jail.”
The Los Angeles Police Department reports that no legal action has been taken against Hilton.
In my opinion, I’m not actually sure if he knew or not, however I’m sure he’ll be a lot more careful now. Although, with all the controversy surrounding the nature of his work, I think he is smarter than that, and knows the law backwards and forwards. He would have to to have been so successful at this. Anyone who didn’t know the law would have been run out years ago. But like I said, that is just my opinion.
Do you think charges should be made?
