Amanda Bynes announced via Twitter that she is retiring at the age of 24 from films. Says Bynes, “Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” and goes on to say “If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it,” and “I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”
Bynes started her career at an early age, becoming a popular performer on Nickelodeon’s All That before landing her own program, The Amanda Show.”
She then moved to the WB (now the CW network), playing Jennie Garth’s sister on What I Like About You before moving to feature films (What a Girl Wants, She’s the Man.)
Her last film project, Easy A, is due out in September.
I’m really hoping that this is a publicity stunt. I really like Bynes, and even when the material she is given is cliche, her personality makes it feel new. Well, almost, but she is such a natural performer it really doesn’t matter.
