According to Vibe and the endless promos on Nick at Night, Damon Wayans’ family sitcom My Wife and Kids has joined the ranks of Nick-At-Nite’s Modern TV Classics lineup, which includes George Lopez, The Nanny, and Everybody Hates Chris.
Now I’m not saying the show doesn’t deserve the title of Modern Day Classic. In fact, I actually enjoyed it during it’s 2000-2005 year run, and thought it ended way too soon. I’m just wondering what the criteria is for such a title. Does it have to be a ratings winner? If so, then that would exclude such shows as Arrested Development, which although they were critical darlings and loved by a handful of people, never really earned big numbers. Or maybe it’s more of a critic standpoint? Nope, don’t think it’s that either. Whatever the formula may be, I’m sure it will always be cause for debate.
