Vampire Diaries Returns Tonight

In honor of the return of the Vampire Diaries, I decided to do a power ranking of the my favorite characters, each with some pro’s and con’s. Let us begin:

5. Caroline: The Brat with a Heart of Gold (well, possibly)
Pro: Caroline does tend to get a lot of good lines, and is often able to do favors for Damon that only humans can do.
Con: She’s often used as the one Damon can manipulate, and it all seems just a bit too easy. I’d love to see what would happen if she ever told him no.

4. Bonnie – The Witch
Pro: She is really coming into her own as a witch, and I enjoy how they are making it kind of gradual.
Con: Sometimes gradual can be a little too gradual. I do wanna see just a tad more, but not too much.

3. Damon – The Bad Boy Vamp
Pro: Damon is a terrific character, with so many shades to his ever growing appeal. He can make you hate him one moment, while letting out a gentle sigh the next.
Con: Sometimes I feel they are a bit schizophrenic with his character, one moment he seems so sweet, and then bam, he’s evil again. But of course, that is part of the appeal.

2. Stefan – The Sensitive Vamp
Pro: At first he seemed kind of a wimpy bore, but the writer’s have shown his strong, devoted side, which finally turned him into the heartthrob we all knew he could be.
Con: A little angst can sometimes go a long way.

1. Elena – The Love
Pro: At first she also seemed like someone trapped in her own angst, but Elena has quickly evolved into a very spunky spit-fire. She may be surrounded by supernatural things she doesn’t understand, you won’t see her just lie back and take it.
Con: The Katherine scenes (which I LOVE) sometimes overshadow the Elena ones. Not that I’m complaining.

So what do you think of the list? Do you agree or disagree? Comment away!

My DVR Moment of Last Week – 2/14/2010

Spoilers might be ahead, be warned! This weeks top honor goes to the Vampire Diaries for finally showing someone that can bring Damon to his knees. No, it wasn’t his trapped inside the church (or was she?) Katherine, it was Bonnie’s Grams (played by Jasmine Guy), a seasoned witch that dropped Damon to the ground with one mean, icy stare. The icing on the cake? “I’m not Bonnie, you don’t wanna mess with me,” she growls. Unfortunately we may never see Grams again, but with a supernatural show, you just never know.

Runner-Up: Two and a Half Men and the unfortunate incident with Charlie and the baby carriage. Yes, it was gross and tasteless, but it was also unexpected, and gave Evelyn a chance to console Charlie the only way she can. (“Don’t worry, we’ve all been there” Classic).

Missed Moment: Apollo Ohno  makes history.

Ratings for Thursday Shows

Here’s a rundown of how Thursday’s programming did ratings-wise, as per EW.Some worthy notes: Vampire Diaries reached 4 million, it’s first time since the fall, and CBS’s procedural shows still seem to be going strong, with CSI and The Mentalist each around 14 million viewers, which makes them the winners of the night in terms of overall viewers. However, if you take a look at what Variety says, then ABC with it’s Greys Anatomy/Private Practice combo took the first night of sweeps. Ahh, the ratings game.

My DVR Moment of Last Week

This weeks honor goes out to The Big Bang Theory, which had me laughing consistently, but none more so than seeing Sheldon trapped by his own security system, and no longer the master of his own bladder.

Runner-up: Elena and Damon, The Vampire Diaries. I’m still on team Stefan, but there was a kind of sweetness to their interaction, even if Damon has something up his sleeve. Just when you think our favorite bad boy vamp has gone soft, he cold heartedly (I guess there isn’t any other way with a vamp) kills Gina Torres’s character for tipping off Lexi’s boyfriend to his whereabouts. As I have said before, I can’t wait to see where this is going.

Second Runner Up: Finally a challenge on Project Runway that is a challenge to creativity and provided a little drama. Not only did the designers have to create an outfit out of a burlap sack, they were also hand selected by the models. So naturally, someone gets a little po’d.

Missed moment: An NPH directed episode of How I Met Your Mother. And I call myself a fan. For shame.

Vamipre Diaries: The TVGuide Magazine Interview

What’s in store for Stefan, Damon, and Elena? Find out in this interview from TVGuidemagazine.com: The Vampire Diaries: Love at First Bite.

I don’t wanna say too much, since the article says it all, but I am intrigued by the direction things seem to be taking. I can’t wait to keep watching.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers

Just found some Vampire Diaries spoilers on Michael Ausiello’s EW Blog. I won’t ruin anything for other fanatics like myself, but it did answer one of my questions, and I have to say, I am quite heartbroken. I’ll still watch though, but I won’t like it. Okay, that’s a lie. I know I’ll love it.

Vampire Diaries Casting News: Melinda Clarke to Play Matt’s Mom

Found this off the Michael Aussielo Entertainment Weekly blog: Vampire Diaries exclusive.

I do have to admit, I’m not very familiar with Melinda Clarke by name, having not really been into The O.C., but it appears she has been in a lot of shows that I used to watch as a guest star. (I’m such a bad T.V. nerd.) This should be interesting, since I have always wondered where the heck Matt and Vicky’s parents have been. Now I’ll finally get some answers.
